archlab archlab description This is a trimmed down version of the original Arch Lab that contained 3 parts. We have retained the heart of the original lab in this lab, and just want you to focus on program optimization. In the original lab, the students also worked on adding 2 instructions (iaddl and leave described in Homework problems 4.47 and 4.49, and 4.48 and 4.50, respectively) to the Y86 instruction set and test them. In this lab, we have already provided you with the pipeline simulator (psim) based on the HCL file, pipe-full.hcl that contains the implementation of the iaddl and leave instructions. All you have to do is, incorporate these new instructions in the Y86 assembly code that you will write as part of the ncopy function, the description of which is given next. Note that you will apply similar ideas in the Cache lab, where you will be making use of SSE instruction extensions to the X86 instruction set.
